Thanks for checking out the demo site for Mission.

Mission is a “back to basics” theme. It’s an ode to the classic news site with an obvious New York Times-esque aesthetic.

Premium design

You’ll find that Mission is fast, clean, and easy to browse. Afterall, the most important aspect of the site is its ability to get visitors to read. A lot of attention went into readability in particular.

Mission keeps the “characters per line” to approximately 75 which is optimum for reading. The typography is carefully set using a modular scale for precise font sizing. For instance, the text you’re reading here is 3/4 the size of the headings which are 3/4 the size of the title above. Mission uses margins and text line-height to create a consistent vertical rhythm that lends to the beauty of the site.

Monetization

In addition, Mission also recognizes the need for monetization. Ad widgets can be placed into both of the sidebars in addition to five other widget areas added specifically for advertising. The combined seven widget areas available are:

• Left sidebar
• Right sidebar
• Below Header
• Above Posts
• After First Post
• After Post Content
• After Page Content

Lastly, Mission includes quite a few features for customizing your site. Features include:

• 4 homepage content layouts
• Controls to show/hide 19 different elements on the site
